Hennepin County 72 Hour Booking Facilities

Hennepin County operates multiple jail facilities for 72 hour bookings. The main facility is the Public Safety Facility at 401 South 4th Avenue, Suite 100, Minneapolis, MN 55415. It is open 24 hours a day. Call 612-348-5112 to reach the jail. There is also a jail inside Minneapolis City Hall at 350 South 5th Street. That location runs from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays. The Adult Corrections Facility has separate buildings for men and women in Plymouth. The men's facility is at 1145 Shenandoah Lane, Plymouth, MN 55447. Active warrants can lead to a new 72 hour booking when law enforcement finds the person. In Hennepin County, a judge issues warrants for serious and less serious crimes. The Sheriff processes and maintains warrant data but does not issue them.

Hennepin County Booking Data and State Law

Under Minnesota Statute 13.82, most 72 hour booking data in Hennepin County is public. The name, age, sex, charges, arrest time and place, and custody status are open records. Booking photos are public per subdivision 26. The Minneapolis Police Department does not release booking photos. The Hennepin County jail has booking photos but they are not posted online. To request a booking photo, call the Public Safety Facility at 612-348-5112.

Private data includes medical and mental health info gathered at intake. Statute 13.85 keeps that private. Juvenile records are not available to the public. Post-conviction records older than 15 years may also be exempt from public access. The BCA Criminal History Search shows only conviction data, not arrest records.

Statute 641.05 requires the jailer to log each person. The jail also follows Minnesota Rules Chapter 2911 for standards on record keeping, cell conditions, and inmate care.
